Who is Merton Miller?

Merton Miller was born in Boston, MA, USA. During WWII, Miller worked as an economist in the Division of Tax Research at the US Treasury Department. In 1949, he started studying at John Hopkins University, earning his Ph.D. in 1952. Miller joined the University of Chicago in 1961.

Why did Merton Miller win a Nobel Prize?

Merton Miller was awarded the Nobel Prize in economics in 1990 for his pioneering work in the theory of financial economics and his contribution to the Modigliani-Miller Theorem. Throughout his career and into retirement, Miller continued to be involved in the study and articulation of problems within corporate finance.

When did Merton Miller die?

Merton Miller died on June 3, 2000. Merton Miller developed the Modigliani-Miller theorem with fellow economist Franco Modigliani. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in economics in 1990. Miller was a professor of economics at the Carnegie Mellon Graduate School of Industrial Administration and the University of Chicago.
